[N14763] Josephine Kytta ... nee Polino
Born August 24, 1931
Died December 6, 2012
Josephine Kytta, 81, died of natural causes at 9 pm on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Southfield Village in South Bend. She passed with her family by her side and in the loving care of the Southfield Village nurses and support staff. Josephine was very loved by everyone who was blessed by her presence. Though Josephine was determined in her Christian belief that one should live a life of righteousness and respect, she never refused to show empathy toward anyone who asked her advice. The loss of her great spirit of unwavering love will surely be felt by all who knew her.Josephine’s life of charity was evident in the work and support she gave to her church, the Memorial Presbyterian Church of South Bend, where she was a life-long parishioner, Sunday School teacher, and Choir member. One might experience how food must taste in heaven if they were fortunate enough to secure one of her angelic apple pies at the church’s annual bake sale.Born Josephine Polino to Frances (Lentine) and Pasquale Polino in Mishawaka, Indiana, where, at age 19, she was fortunate enough to meet, and a year later marry, the love of her life, Oswald Kytta. Settled in South Bend, Oswald and Josephine shared a long life of genuine love and riotous laughter. They brought four children into their glorious ‘50s union where together they persevered through ‘60s counter-culture, four home-made square meals a day, squabbling siblings, and a never-ending mountain of laundry. Through it all, Josephine never strayed from her Christian beliefs and her duty as a mother to her family and supportive wife to her husband. She is survived by her children, James W. Kytta of South Bend, Judith A. Fansler and Sandra K. Kytta of Mishawaka, Jeffrey D. Kytta of Chicago, Illinois, and James Leda of Mishawaka who she loved as a son; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Kathryn Kluczynski of South Bend and Marjorie Greenawalt of Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2012, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home , 521 North William Street . Visitation will be held today, Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 2 till 6 pm. May peace be with all who celebrate our loving mother’s ascent into Heaven. Contributions in Josephine’s memory may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637 or to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1836 Portage Ave. South Bend, IN 46616.
