Ada L. Cissna made her transition from this life to her new life on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 5:15 a.m. She had resided at Hamilton Grove, New Carlisle, IN for the last nine months. Born June 25, 1920 in French Lick, IN, a daughter of Morris and Catherine (Hagan) Crowder, she has lived in the greater South Bend area her entire life. Ada retired from Sears Roebuck Co. in her 70's, where she worked as a representative in the Warranty Office. She also was an Avon representative for many years. One of the defining hallmarks of her life was her extraordinary love for her family and her unwavering faith in the Lord.
During her lifetime, she was a member of Midway Tabernacle and first Apostolic Church, both of Mishawaka, and most recently, The Door Church in La Porte. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Woods Berg (James) of Bozeman, MT; two sons, E. Edward Wentzel of Mishawaka and Larry P. Wentzel (Donna) of South Bend. Also surviving are six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. In addition, three sisters, Marcia (Clem) Reever of Imperial, MO, Jennie Barnaby of Sulphur, LA, and Bettie (Joe) Mieleszewicz of South Bend, IN, survive Ada.
She was preceded in death by C. Paul Wentzel, her husband of 25 years; her parents; three sisters, Lillian Reese, Frances Dillon and Marie Seese; and two brothers, Paul and Claude Crowder. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, with Todd Woods, pastor of The Door Church, La Porte, and grandson of Ada, officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family will receive friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29 at the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel.
