ELKHART - Anne M. Vargyas, 83, passed away at 5:00 pm Sunday, March 27, 2016, in her daughter's residence surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born on August 2, 1932, in Akron, Ohio, to Guiseppe and Mary Vincenza (DeFillippo) Sernicola. She retired from Bearings HQ as branch manager after 35 years of service. She had a quiet strength and enjoyed cooking and her grandchildren. Anne was previously a member of Our Lady of Hungary Church, its Home & School Association, funeral luncheon committee and was a Campfire Girls leader and a member of the Firemen's Auxiliary. On June 28, 1952, in Akron, Ohio, she married Joseph L. Vargyas, Sr. He died on January 1, 2015. Anne was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Mysko and Millie Getner, and two brothers, Tony Sernicola and Frank Sernicola. Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca (Steven) Vargyas-Jellison of Elkhart, two sons, Joseph L. (Scott T. Perkins) Vargyas, Jr. of Spring, TX, and Gary J. (Marybeth) Vargyas of St. Charles, IL, seven grandchildren, S. Zachary Jellison, Stephanie Hendricks, Kari Hazelbaker, Sarah Elizabeth Vargyas-Meitzler, Anthony Joseph Vargyas, Alexander James Vargyas and John Karl Vargyas, 7 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Galluch of Union Town, OH, and Rose (Wilbur) Mackey of Lynchburg, TN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, April 1, 2016, in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 3-8 Thursday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Church or St. Vincent DePaul Church. Published in South Bend Tribune on Mar. 30, 2016
