Clara Marie Golabowski, 90, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2005, in her home in the loving care of her niece, Karen Todd, who was assisted by her niece, Antoinette Johnson.

Clara was born May 26, 1915, in South Bend, to Roman and Helen (Hosinski) Golabowski Sr. She retired at the age of 65 from the University of Notre Dame as the manager of the University Relations Department.

Surviving are her sisters, Sister Antoinette Golabowski, Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters, Huntington, Indiana, Marie Spinney of Turlock, California, and Helen Paulk of South Bend; 12 nieces and nephews, 15 grandnieces and nephews, and three great-grandnephews; and her sister-in-law, Irene Golabowski of South Bend.

A sister, Irene Golabowski, brothers, Leo, Edward, Stanley, Joseph, Erwin and Roman Golabowski Jr., and brothers-in-law, E. Don Spinney and Kenneth Paulk, all preceded her in death.

Clara was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, the Culture Vultures Social Club, the University Club of Notre Dame, an avid supporter of the South Bend symphony, and was a 1934 South Bend Central High School graduate.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM today, September 9, 2005, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be held at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 10, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, Indiana.
