Ralph L. Boren
Dec. 31, 1923 - April 26, 2009

SOUTH BEND - Ralph L. Boren, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, April 26th in his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Boren was born on December 31, 1923 in Mounds, IL, and resided in the Michiana area his lifetime. On March 12, 1946 in South Bend he married Gertrude J. Marciniak who survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Darlene E. Boren of Granger, IN, Pam S. Modlin of Niles, MI, Dianne Y. Boren of Mishawaka and Rebecca A. (Mark) Adrian of South Bend; five sons, James C. (Sherry) Boren of Little Elm, TX, Ernest Boren of South Bend, Fred Boren of Mishawaka, Rusty (Lynn) Boren of South Ben and Jeff (Kim) Boren of South Bend; a cousin, Birdie Lou Trucker of Kira, IL; also 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren whom he loved and cherished.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Brandon Lee Modlin and Gregory Boren, and a brother, Roy E. Boren. Mr. Boren retired from Clark Equipment and Indiana Bell Telephone Company as a security supervisor. He also was a security supervisor for the Dept. of Corrections. Mr. Boren was a US Army veteran, serving during WW II. Served in the European Theater, 315th Field Artillery, awarded four Bronze Stars during the Battle of the Bulge and Ardennes. He was past member of the American Legion Post 50 and served as First and Second Vice Commander. The family request that all memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. Mr. Boren's wishes were to be cremated which his family honored. A Memorial services is scheduled for Monday, May 11th at 1 p.m. in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Road /Indiana 23, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to service time. The family would like to thank Dr. Mark Toth and staff for their outstanding care during Ralph's extended illness. Also the Burger King Girls for their prayers and caring about Ralph. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and extends it deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Boren family.

Burial:
Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
