SOUTH BEND - Victor E. Pine, 83, died peacefully at home on Friday, August 8, 2008, encircled by the love of his family. He was born February 28, 1925, in Chicago, IL, to Eugene (Baginski) and Victor E. Pine Sr. After his father's death, Vic's mother married Casimier Malicki. Both preceded him in death. Vic is survived by the love of his life , his
wife of 62 years, Eugenia (Jean) Pine. He is further survived by his daughter, Vicky (Martin) Mosson of Mill Creek, IN, and a son, Richard (Diana) Pine of Wauwatosa, WI. Also surviving are grandchildren, Brandee (Jason) Flagg, Scott (Jessica) Sinka, Angel a (William) Warner and Cathryn (Martin) Martos; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Evan, Braydon and Jayden, and Brock. In addition, Vic is survived by his brother, Gerald (Helen) Malicki, other loving relatives and longtime friends. Vic was proud to serve in the Marines during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the South Bend Community School Corporation after 35 years of service. Vic loved his family, fishing ,
chocolates, and a good joke. He will be missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Memorial Hospital and The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, especially his hospice nurse, Sue, for the exemplary care they provided Vic during his lengthy illness. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. today, August 10, in ST. JOSE PH FUNERAL HOME, 824 Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Gardens Mausoleum at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
