SOUTH BEND - Honorata M. Sciba, 95, passed away at 9:20 pm on Friday, August 17, 2012, in the Bremen Health Care Center. Honorata was born on August 21, 1916, in South Bend, to Vincent and Frances Grodzicki. On September 16, 1939, Honorata married Floyd Sciba, who passed away on April 18, 1990. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Judith A. Sciba; brothers, Peter Brusich and Steve Lupa; and sisters, Josephine Witucki and Stella Crowder. Honorata is survived by daughter, Loretta (Tom Owens) Newsom of South Bend; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cindy) Newsom of Osceola, IN, Cynthia (Joe) Mosier of Bristol, IN, Amy (Walter) Grimes of Gray, GA, and Eric (Lucienne) Newsom of Ft. Hood, TX; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Leach of Mishawaka; a brother, Vincent Grodzicki of South Bend; and her companion of 20 years, Bill Ross. Honorata was a lifelong member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church. She liked sewing, polka music, flowers, gardening, and loved dogs. She was known as "Aunt Nonnie." Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm today, Aug. 20, 2012, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
