Walter and Erika Siebert were married on May 24th, 1947, in Germany. They moved to the United States in 1956 and to Mishawaka in 1974 when they built the house they still live in. The had 3 sons, Werner (Sherill), Juergen (Carolyn), and Walter Jr. (deceased). They also have a granddaughter, Noelle (Clayton), and a great-granddaughter, Anja. Walter is a retired union sheet metal shop owner, and Erika is a retired bookkeeper.

May 20, 1928 ~ December 23, 2020 (age 92)

Erika I. Siebert, 92, of Mishawaka passed away Wednesday, December 23, 2020. Erika was born on May 20, 1928, in Germany and was the daughter of the late Don and Anna (Scholz) Herrick. She married the love of her life, Walter Siebert on May 24, 1947, in Germany. Walter passed away only 25 days prior to Erika’s passing. Erika is also preceded in death by her son, Walter, and her daughter-in-law, Sherill. Erika is survived by her children, Werner Siebert and Juergen (Carolyn) Siebert; granddaughter, Noelle (Clayton); great-granddaughter, Anja as well as a host of extended family members. In January of 1956, Erika and Walter moved their family to the United States and settled in St. Joseph, MI. Erika began her new life in America as a full time mother and homemaker while her boys were young. Later on she worked as a baker and as a bookkeeper. She was also an active member in The Benton harbor chapter of DANK. In 1974 Erika and Walter moved to Mishawaka, IN to the house they built and loved. Erika became involved in the local garden club and enjoyed her plants and gardening. She had an artistic touch to everything she tried. Erika will be missed by many, but is back together with Walter, her husband of 73 years. The family would like to thank The Center for Hospice Care, with a special thanks to Nicole and Michele for the extraordinary care they gave Erika. A private family service will be held for Erika.
