SOUTH BEND - Alice Marciniak, 86, passed away on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, in her home surrounded by her loving family and dogs. Alice was born May 5, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Nickodem and Anna Badowski. Alice married Ernest Marciniak on February 21, 1951, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Marciniak, and 9 siblings. Survivors of Alice include children, Constance Marciniak, Thomas (Roxanne) Marciniak, Robert (Debra) Marciniak; grandchildren, Holly Marciniak, Cassandra (Justin Rood) Marciniak, Kenneth (Amanda) Marciniak; 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Harry Badowski; and sister, Sophie Konieczny. Alice worked for Sobenite Plastics then retired from Nyloncraft. She was a member of the Polish Falcons, UAW & UFW. Alice volunteered at St. Joseph Med Center for many years and was honored with a dinner and award for over 10,000 service hours. When she could no longer work, she crocheted hats for babies, cancer and dialysis patients. She enjoyed travelling to different places with her family, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, watching tv or movies, and gardening. Most important for Alice was maintaining her home and loving her family. A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Saturday, July 15, 2017, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 56405 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, followed by an Open House from 12-4 pm at 2233 East Madison Street, South Bend, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in Alice's name.
