Daniel “Dan” K. Nowicki, 88, of South Bend, IN passed away April 7, 2022 after an illness. He was born on March 19, 1934 in South Bend to Casimer and Adeline (Setlak) Nowicki. On November 19, 1955 at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church in South Bend, he married Pauline Reiter, who survives. Dan is also survived by his children, Craig (Mary Rose) Nowicki of South Bend, IN; Todd Nowicki of Bristol, IN and Jim Nowicki of South Bend, IN. Surviving also are 8 grandchildren: Joseph (Kelilyn) Nowicki, Eric (Katie) Nowicki, Cole Nowicki, Stephanie Smith, Olivia (Drew) Herchenbach, Ryan (Baylee) Nowicki, Maria Nowicki, and Maggie Nowicki; two great-grandchildren: Eli and Jay Nowicki; and a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Alice Tomczak. Dan was a 1952 graduate of Washington High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a draftsman by The Studebaker Corporation, Dodge Manufacturing, Inc. and retired in 1996 from the Bosch Corporation. He enjoyed a good scotch, family gatherings, going to the casinos, playing cards and taking life easy. Dan was extremely handy and there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix or make on his own. Dan was a loving husband and a great father who took care of his family and made sure his sons turned out strong, independent, resourceful, and with good character and values. The values and skills he instilled in his children are cherished and he will be forever missed. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Sunday April 10, 2022 at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A private burial will take place. St. Joseph Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family requests no flowers.
