South Bend Barry Slott, 76, passed away on Friday April 15, 2022, at Woodland Manor in Elkhart after a long battle with cancer. Barry was born on July 29, 1945, in South Bend as the son of Emanuel and Mary (Moody) Slott. On September 25, 1970, He married the love of his life Kathy Mestach and together shared Fifty-one years of loving marriage. Barry is survived by his wife Kathy, and their two sons, Bradley (Amie) and Marty (Blair). Three grandchildren, Claire, William and Swazy Slott. One sister Jackie (David) Maez. Two sisters-in-law Diane Mestech-Hemphill and Sue Slott. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Donald Slott and one sister Sharon Banicki. Barry was the definition of a family man and loved nothing more than to spend time with his family, especially if it meant digging giant holes in the sand on the beach with his grandkids. In the winter, he passed along his love for skiing in northern Michigan and in Colorado. He loved being outside on the water and enjoyed telling stories of his adventures. On the weekends you could find Barry & Kathy enjoying the company of friends at the Elks Club in St Joseph, MI or at Eagle Point Yacht Club where Barry once served as commodore. Barry was employed by NIPSCO as a heavy equipment operator for 37 years, before his retirement in 2007. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. The family will receive friends on Wednesday April 27, 2022, from 10:00 am till 12:00 Noon in Hahn Funeral Home 505 W. 8th Street Mishawaka. With a celebration of life beginning at 12:00 Noon Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice 230 W. Catalpa Drive D, Mishawaka, IN 46545
