KOKOMO - Henrietta Markiewicz, 88, Kokomo, went to the Lord Sunday morning, October 7, 2012, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 11, 1924, in South Bend, IN, to the late Vincent and Martha (Pruzinski) Piechocki. On August 18, 1951, at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, she was married to Richard Samuel Markiewicz, who preceded her in death on December 2, 1982. Henrietta was a faithful parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, and she cherished her time saying prayers. Her memberships included the Daughters of Isabella, Ladies of Charity, Blue Army, Altar Rosary Society, Cub Scouts Den Mother, Polish Cultural Society, Bridge Club, and she was a special "Sister" to the Poor Clare Nuns. Henrietta loved to sew and cook for her family as well. She leaves behind seven children, Mark (Peggy) Markiewicz, Kokomo, Chris (Pam) Markiewicz, Kokomo, Elise (John M.) Ring, Russiaville, Paul (Mirella) Markiewicz, Kokomo, Diane (Joe) Ridgeway, Kokomo, Ann (Mike) Hopkins, Kokomo, Mary (John) Jordan, Galveston; 18 grandchildren, Dr. Jack (Jill) Markiewicz, Oklahoma, OK, Michael (Megan) Markiewicz, Houston, TX, Ally Markiewicz, Lafayette, IN, Kathleen and Chris David Markiewicz, Kokomo, Craig (Stacey) Ring, Kokomo, John Allen (Rebecca) Ring, Cedar Rapids, IA, Erin (Chad) Ring, Peru, IN, Jessica Markiewicz, Kokomo, Erica Markiewicz, Indianapolis, Nathan (Melissa) Ridgeway, Kokomo, Nicole Kling, Kokomo, Natalie Ridgeway, Lafayette, IN, Neal Ridgeway, Zionsville, Patrick, Kelly and Lisa Hopkins, Kokomo, and Jacob Jordon, Galveston; 13 great-grandchildren, Elam Markiewicz, Andrew, Aiden and Austin Ring, Jaxon Ring, Hayden Kock, Noah, Samuel, Zackary and Madeline Ridgeway, Micah, Winnie, and Joey Kling; sisters, Irene Beeleart, South Bend, IN, Rosemary (George) Metz and Margaret Babicz; and a special friend for over 52 years, Sr. Bernadette of the Poor Clare's. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Samuel Markiewicz; and a brother, Alfred Piechocki. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, Kokomo, with Rev. Fr. David Huemmer the Celebrant and Rev. Fr. Dennis O'Keeffe and Rev. Fr. Bradley Metz the Co-celebrants. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the church, where the Rosary will be offered at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Monastery of the Poor Clares, 1175 N. 300 West, Kokomo, IN 46901; or to St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 3155 S. 200 West, Kokomo, IN 46902.
