Mishawaka -- Fred Garatoni, 83, of South Spring Street, died at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in his home. Mr. Garatoni retired as the owner/operator of Ramona's Café. He was born Nov. 4, 1912 in Lehigh, Iowa, and lived in Mishawaka since 1929. On June 20, 1937 in Elkhart, he married Dina Baldoni. She survives with a daughter, Karol A. Harsanyi of Mishawaka; a son, Larry H. of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Anita Birocci of Mishawaka, Cecelia Mori of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Julia Dayton of Lehigh; and a brother, Peter of Fort Dodge. He was a member of the DeAmici Club. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Hahn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc. or American Cancer Society.
