Esther Jane Kaminski, 22, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2007, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, IN. Esther was born on December 8, 1984 in South Bend, IN. She was a senior at Purdue University, where her major was psychology, with a minor in forensics and French. Survivors include her parents, Peter Kaminski, III and Arlene (Kleine) Kaminski of New Carlisle, IN; her brother, Peter Kaminski, IV of Indianapolis, IN; paternal grandmother, Marjorie Kaminski; aunts and uncles, Kenny (Sandy) Kleine of New Carlisle, IN, Ardith (Dan) Wykoff of Steele, ND, Tom (Janine) Kaminski of San Antonio, TX, Vicki Sikorski of South Bend, IN, Fred (Debbie Orban) Kaminski of Highland, IN, Dan (Robin) Kaminski of Canton, GA and Jane (Steve) Sonntag of Greenwood, IN; cousins, Andy Anderson, Michelle Anderson, Julie (Glen) Wienberg, Jeff Kleine, Fred Kaminski, Jr., Matt Kaminski, Bill Kaminski, Steph Sonntag, Katie Sonntag, Laura Sonntag, Allie Sonntag, Tracy Mulligan, Tom Kaminski, Jr., Amanda Kaminski, Megan Kaminski, Dan Kaminski, Jr., Jason (Amy Nolan) Sikorski and Charlotte (Tony) Tefleller. Preceding her in death were her maternal grandparents, Clark and Esther Kleine and her paternal grandfather, Peter Kaminski, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2007 in the New Carlisle United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hamilton Cemetery. Friends may call from Noon until 8:00 p.m., Sunday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Esther graduated from Stanley Clark School, where she was a member of the hockey, drama, and speech teams. She helped with Bible school at the New Carlisle United Methodist Church and danced in the Nutcracker for eight years. She was a 2003 graduate of Culver Academy, where she graduated as Senior Prefect, was the head of the Student Honor Council, a member of the first girls junior varsity hockey team, and played softball for four years, including the 2003 sectional championship softball team. She was also a member of the Culver volleyball team and the girls drill team. While at Purdue University she studied abroad in Florence, Italy. She was a member of the Purdue University rugby team, Womens Leadership, and vice president of PAL. She was also fluent in French. Her biggest joy was tailgating for Purdue football games.
