SOUTH BEND - Pearl E. Haluda, 95, of South Bend, Indiana passed away Monday, October 14, 2013. Pearl was born January 16, 1918 in South Bend to Joseph & Katherine (Tekla) Kosik. She had been employed by St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Slicks Laundry and The Sherland Building. On November 18, 1939, as Pearl Kosik she married Bert Haluda who preceded her in death on November 19, 1958. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Haluda in 1999. Sisters, Clara Ciesolka, Anna Odynski, & Agnes Kosik; and a brother, Frank Kosik also preceded her in death. Pearl is survived by her sons, Thomas (Carolyn) Haluda & David Haluda both of South Bend; grandchildren, Kelly Haluda, Shelly (Larry) Regina, Michael (Sheila) Haluda, Michelle Haluda, Tracie (Bryan) Bedell, Jennifer Haluda, Wendy Haluda, John Hennion & Julie Hennion; great-grandchildren, Milena Katherine & Calvin Thomas Bedell; and daughter-in-law, Jean Haluda. Pearl's hobbies included dancing to her polka records, watching her soap operas and crocheting. She could whip out a set of pot holders while you were visiting so you could leave with them. Pearl was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church, the Senior Citizens, and St. Ann's Rosary Society. Visitation is 9-11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at St. Casimir Catholic Church, 1308 W. Dunham Street, South Bend, IN. Mass of Christian Burial is 11 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2013, (following visitation), in St. Casimir Catholic Church. The family is most grateful for the compassion & care that Pearl received at Morningside Nursing and Memory Care Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Harbor Light Hospice, 1608 E.
