EAU CLAIRE - Richard's life began on April 24, 1928, in South Bend, the son of Walter Urbanski Sr. and Clementine (Staszewski) Urbanski. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Richard had been employed by Cupples Door Company, Turf Services and U.S. Metals and Manufacturing. He was a member of Dowagiac Moose #933, VFW Post #1855 in Dowagiac, and was an early member of the Indian Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his son, Mike (Julie) Urbanski of Dowagiac; granddaughters, Ashley Lynn and Michelle Lee Urbanski of Dowagiac; brothers, Walter (Eldora) Urbanski of Dowagiac and Henry (Virginia) Werus of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Richard passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011, at his home. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Stillwell, and his companion, Martha "Marty" Donoho. His family will gather with friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday. His memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Dowagiac Moose Lodge, led by Pastor Justin Shepard.
