LAKEVILLE - Laura Maxine Amor, 78, passed away at 1:33 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at the Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth, IN. Maxine was born on March 1, 1935, in North Liberty, to the late Palmer and Minnie (Nelson) Snyder. She has remained a lifelong area resident. On January 24, 1959, in Marshall County, IN, she married Ivan "Ike" Amor, who preceded her in death on May 23, 2013. One sister, Phyllis (Charles) Hess, and one brother, Harold (Eilene) Snyder, also preceded Maxine in death. Maxine enjoyed working as a bookkeeper. She first worked in the office at Studebaker Corporation until the business closed. She then worked for Knecht Elevator in North Liberty and retired from Wilson Elevator in Lakeville. Maxine was an active lady and was an avid bowler, earning many awards and titles. She loved to sew, dance, play cards, bake and fish. Maxine loved life and especially loved her family. She enjoyed watching all of her grandchildren compete in all of their events. Maxine is survived by her three sons, Bruce (Kathy) Amor of Indianapolis, Brian (Roslyn) Amor of South Bend and Brent (Dawn) Amor of Lakeville; eight grandchildren, Bradley (Kimberly) Amor of Bourbon, Kyle (Nicole) Amor of Plymouth, Kody (Sarah) Amor of Plymouth, Hannah Amor of Lakeville, William Amor of South Bend, Sarah Amor of Lakeville, Michael Amor of South Bend and Nicholas Amor of Lakeville; six great-grandchildren, Austin Wagers, Joshua Wagers, Kelsey Hamilton and Evan Amor, all of Bourbon, and Konnor Amor and Liam Amor of Plymouth; and one brother, Gene (Peg) Snyder of North Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the County Line Brethren Church, Lakeville. Pastor Wyatt Smith will officiate. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fair Cemetery, North Liberty. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Contributions in memory of Maxine Amor may be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Indiana Chapter, 730 Georgetown Road, Suite 112, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
