Clara M. Szigeti, 89, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Pacifica-Regency Palm Senior Living, Las Vegas, NV. Clara was born August 2, 1928 in South Bend to the late George and Gladys (Piotrowski) Kurdys. On May 12, 1951, Clara married Rudy Szigeti, he passed in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her companion, Ray Krych, and favorite brother, Jerry Kurdys. Clara is survived by her sister-in-law, Julie Kurdys, niece, Cherise (John) Williams, and great-nephews, Justin (Jessica) Williams & Ethan Williams all of Las Vegas, NV. Clara lived in South Bend until about 10 years ago when she moved to Las Vegas to be near her family. She was a Notary and an auditor for South Bend Water Works for 42 years until retiring 1997. She received a “Key to the City” from Mayor Luecke. Clara was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus B&M, a member of the American Legion Aux #357, Mishawaka Eagles & Ladies Aux #2083 and helped cook the Polish dinners at St. Hedwig and the Legion Post #357. She was also a huge Notre Dame fan and loved Polka music. Funny, outgoing, sweet, life of the party, are just a few terms used to describe Clara. Her life was about having a fun and being happy. She loved her family and friends dearly, especially her brother and his wife. She followed his band, “Jerry Kurdys Polka Band” and DJ’d for his radio station with her sister-in-law, Julie. Clara loved to travel. IPA Polka conventions and fishing trips were her favorite getaways. She would help prep and cook food for group trips. Clara will be greatly missed and always remembered and loved. Visitation for Clara will be 3:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, October 20, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 am Saturday, October 21, 2017 in the funeral home Chapel. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
