Szczytno ... (German: Ortelsburg) is a town in north-eastern Poland with 27,970 inhabitants (2004). Szczytno is situated in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodship (since 1999), but was previously in Olsztyn Voivodship (1975-1998). This was in the province of East Prussia. During the middle ages Ortelsburg was part of the Catholic Diocese of Ermland which was founded in the 1300's. There was a star gazer there named Nick Copernicus.
