April 13, 1954 - Aug. 2, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Stephen Patrick Kaczynski, 58, of Marco Island, Florida, died suddenly of natural causes on August 2, 2012. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, on April 13, 1954, to Leonard and Patricia Kaczynski. He was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and attended Indiana University. He married the love of his life, Mary Finnigan, also of South Bend, on July 27, 1974, and they lived together on Marco Island, FL. Steve was a true example of an American success story -- beginning his 40+ years in the retail industry as a bag boy at Martin's Supermarket and concluding as President, CEO of Mrs. Greens Markets in New Jersey. In between, Steve rose to an EVP of Sales and Marketing for First National Foods in CT, MA, RI and NY, Giant Foods in PA, Wild Oats in CO, President, CEO of Biggs in OH and President, CEO of Navarro in Miami, FL. Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; two daughters, Jessica (Duban) Valencia and Sarah (Robert) Asbell; as well as four grandchildren, Isabella and Eliana Valencia, James and Matthew Asbell, all of Marco Island, FL. Steve has an older sister, Melissa Murphy, a younger brother, Scott, and mother, Patricia (Rybiki) Kaczynski. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard. A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on August 18, 2012, at San Marco Catholic Church, 851 San Marco Road, Marco Island, FL 34145.
