SOUTH BEND - John J. Berzai Jr., 87, passed away at 12:05 a.m. Friday, February 13th, in Elkhart Hospice House. John was born on March 25, 1921, in South Bend, to the late John and Regina (Solmos) Berzai Sr. On June 29, 1946, he married Lorraine (Klosowski), who passed away on November 15, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Radman; and by two brothers, Ernest and Arthur Berzai. He is survived by his two children, Pamela (John) Cybulskis of Mishawaka and Michael (Linda) Berzai of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Carrie Selby and Amy Berzai of Indianapolis, Viktor Cybulskis of Pearland, TX, and Nicholas Cybulskis of West Lafayette, IN. John retired from Curtis Products in 1985; he had also worked for Studebaker and AM General. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, and was a member of Knights of Columbus 553, 4th Degree Fr. Nieuwland Assembly 242, American Legion Post 357, PNA 83, 2nd Air Division-New Jersey, and Moose Lodge 599. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II from October 26, 1942, until October 3, 1945, serving with the 8th Air Force in England. John was also an avid golfer. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 16th, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 17, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 W. Calvert St., South Bend, IN 46613; or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
