South Bend - Casimir J. Bystry, Jr. 91, passed away on Thursday, September 22, 2022.Casimir was born September 18, 1931 in South Bend to the late Casimir Sr. and Constance (Rybicki) Bystry. Casimir married his loving wife of 35 years, Dorothy Wyremblewski Bystry. She preceded him in death in 1987. Casimir was also preceded in death by his brothers, Bert & Ziggy Bystry, and sisters, Milly Gromski and Theresa Widawski. Left to cherish Casimir’s memory are his daughters, Mary L. Bystry and Cynthia A (Joseph) Treash, son, Gary Bystry; grandchildren, Stacy Treash, Wen Treash, and Lauren Treash. Casimir proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of PNA and the American Legion Post 357. Casimir worked for Studebaker for several years then retired from Uniroyal after 38 years of employment. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, archery, and having a cold beer with his friends at the legion. He also enjoyed nature and animals. Casimir grew an incredible garden and went on nature walks, mushroom hunting, and watching the wildlife. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Casimir was a very caring grandfather who taught his grandchildren how to do the things he loved. They will cherish the memories, especially building fun things in the snow. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11:30 am, on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 in the Chapel at St. Joseph Cemetery (White Chapel in center of cemetery) followed by military honors.
