ELKHART -- On Saturday (Nov. 18, 2006), Christine Y. Rodino, 70, of 1615 Jeanwood Drive, a dear wife, mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born March 26, 1936, in Elkhart to the late John and Catherine (Kazmierczak) Stepanek. On May 7, 1960, she married Samuel J. Rodino. He survives, along with six children, Lydia Smith of Bristol, Lana Davis (Ray Stults) of Bristol, Jed (Kassie) Rodino of Holland, Mich., Jennifer (Joseph) Annee of Indianapolis, Jill Schnell of Elkhart and Jeffrey (Melissa) Rodino of Bristol. She also is survived by 16 grandsons and one granddaughter.She was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother, John Stepanek.
Christine was extremely devoted to her family, her God and her church. She was a member of several organizations including St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was the Lector Coordinator, Eucharistic Minister, Minister of the Sick, served on the Parish Liturgy Committee and was a member of the Rosary Society. She delivered Meals on Wheels for the Salvation Army and was a member of its Women's Auxiliary; and was a member and past president of the Four Arts Club. She was a member of the Old Orchard Wednesday Night Ladies Golf League and two ladies bridge clubs for the last 35 years. She was an avid sports fan who loved all Notre Dame sports, the Cubs and any sport that one of her grandchildren was playing. She tried to attend every event. She will be dearly missed and we know that she is with God. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 3:30 p.m., and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, 1531 Cobblestone Blvd., Elkhart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Wednesday at 1 p.m. (no prior visitation). Burial will immediately follow in St. Vincent Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 1405 N. Main St., Elkhart, IN 46514.
