SOUTH BEND - Peter "Jim" Popovic, 85, passed away September 25, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born March 28, 1930, in Winsor, OH, the youngest of 6, and is the last to have been called home. On October 28, 1949, Peter married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Normalee Baird, who still survives. He is also survived by 5 children, Dave Popovic (Patti), Tom Popovic (Donna), Kathy Bicard (Randy), Mike Popovic (Michele) and Wayne Popovic (Debby); as well as 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family. Jim was involved in Civil Defense, and he coached and umpired for Clay Junior Baseball Association. He worked for Bendix in South Bend, Indiana, and retired in 1982 after 32 years. After retirement, he and Norma enjoyed visiting their home in Florida and taking bus trips to see the country. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, from 4-7 PM at the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E. Edison Rd. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 11:00 AM, with visitation one hour prior, all at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
