SOUTH BEND - Eugene D. Turczynski, 74, passed away at 6:00 am Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Memorial Hospital. Gene was born on September 12, 1938, in South Bend, to John and Blanche (Michalski) Turczynski. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, and was employed by the South Bend Fire Department for 34 years, retiring in 2002. On May 19, 1962, in South Bend, he married the former Linda Porogi, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Colleen (Scott) Peregrine and Jill Marie Turczynski, both of South Bend; two sons, Eugene (Syndi) Turczynski of Drain, OR, and Alan (Mary) Turczynski of Mishawaka; 19 grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Ford of South Bend; and two brothers, Norbert (Barbara) Turczynski of New Carlisle and Robert (Pat) Turk of South Bend. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; 5 sisters, Joan Siade, Dolores Polack, Margaret Bergman, Virginia Ciesielski and Maryann Turczynski; and two brothers, Ervin Turk and John Turk. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 27, 2013, in Holy Family Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
