LOS ANGELES - Elizabeth A. Mandile Borlik, 35, of Los Angeles, CA, died Friday in her home after a 10-year battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 2, 1973, in Rochester, N.Y., to Richard and Janice Mandile, currently of Niwot, CO. She graduated in 1996 from the University of Notre Dame. She continued her education at Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles (BS in nursing), UCLA (MS in nursing), and had completed the coursework for a Ph.D. in nursing at UCLA. Elizabeth was a pediatric nurse at the UCLA-Westwood Hospital and a research nurse at the John Wayne Cancer Institute, Los Angeles. In 2005 she married Jeffrey Borlik, formerly of Granger, IN. He survives along with her parents; three brothers, Chris, Greg and Andrew, all of Colorado; her in-laws, Thomas and Darlene Borlik of Granger; sister-in-law, Emily Borlik of Chicago; her grandfather, John Przybylski of South Bend; uncle and aunt, Bill and Davina Borlik of North Liberty; aunt, Kathy Borlik of South Bend; and cousins, Laura and Mark Sniadecki, and Mike Borlik, all of South Bend. A memorial service will be Saturday in Los Angeles. She was a scholar, athlete and nurse. Her beauty, intelligence and wit will be missed by all.
