SOUTH BEND - Helen Katherine DeBroka, 95, of The Sanctuary at St. Paul's in South Bend, passed away on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 at her home. She was born in Kansas to Andrew and Anna (Raciborska) Janczycki on November 25th, 1921. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, George, Frank, Joseph and John along with four sisters, Agnes, Josephine, Victoria and Mary and a son, Patrick. Also preceding her in death were her parents. As Helen Janczycki, she married Charles DeBroka in Mishawaka on October 26th, 1946. He died January 11th,1992. Helen was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka where she was active in the Rosary Society and helped prepare funeral dinners. She volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F. W. Post # 360 in Mishawaka and P.N.A. # 83. She was a graduate of Mishawaka High School, class of 1940. She retired from Uniroyal/Ball Band in 1959 after 15 years of service as a production worker and also worked at Wilson Brothers. She is survived by her children; Charlene DeBroka of Mishawaka, Joseph DeBroka of South Bend and Charles A. (Julie) DeBroka of Mishawaka. Two sisters also survive; Sophie Kinney and Johanna Meersman, both of South Bend. Five grandchildren; Jeffrey (Melisa) DeBroka of South Bend, Sharla (Scott) Gast of Florida, Jennifer (Robin Pixley) DeBroka of South Bend, Michael (Lindsay) DeBroka of South Bend and Melissa DeBroka of Mishawaka. Eleven great grandchildren; Kaylynn Pierce, Breanna Stephenson, Lance Gast, Lauren Gast, Austin Gast, Allison Breden, Tyler Breden, Dominick DeBroka, Sevon Gillespie, Lyric Pixley and Jackson Pixley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 8th, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka at 10:30am. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka and also from 9:00am until 10:00am prior to the Mass at the funeral chapel on Friday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation,60 East 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, NY 10022. Published in South Bend Tribune on Sept. 6, 2017
