SOUTH BEND - Judith Pietrzak, 71, died Friday in her residence. Survivors include husband, Joe; daughters, Joann (Rich) Brown, Jeanne (Jeff) Christopher, Jennifer Wahl and Janie (Brian) Hektor; sons, Joseph (Lisa) Pietrzak and James Pietrzak; and sister, Lois Lanham. Visitation is 2-8 pm Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2012, in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, Rosary at 5:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 am Wednesday in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial at St. Joseph Cemetery. www.sjfh.net

SOUTH BEND - Judith Ann Pietrzak, 71, passed away at 11:00 am on Friday, August 17, 2012, in her residence surrounded by her family. Judy was born October 5, 1940, in Rochester, IN, to the late Joel Harvey and Margaret L. (Henderson) Lewis. Judith was also preceded in death by brother, Richard Lewis, sister, Sharon Brundrett, and 2 deceased siblings at birth. On January 15, 1958, in Ft. McArthur Chapel in San Pedro, CA, Judith married Joseph Pietrzak. He survives along with daughters, Joann (Rich) Brown of Osceola, IN, Jeanne (Jeff) Christopher of Scottsdale, AZ, Jennifer Wahl of Georgetown, TX, and Janie (Brian) Hektor of Portland, OR; sons, Joseph M. (Lisa) Pietrzak of South Bend and James Pietrzak of South Bend; grandchildren, Angela McCann, Jill Lamour, Rich Brown, Jeff Brown, Monica Christopher, Joey Pietrzak, Hannah Pietrzak, Tessa Pietrzak, Jim Pietrzak, Sam Pietrzak, Madeleine Oberfell, Alexi Wahl, Jesse Sandvold, Danial Hektor and Heather Hektor; great-grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Joseph Richard (J.R) Buda, Amy McCann, Natalie McCann, Ryan McCann, Bennett Brown, Mary Jane Brown, Alexandra Brown, Dylan Brown, Gianna Brown, Haylee Christopher, Noah Pietrzak, Nathan Pietrzak, Namarian Pietrzak, Nikyran Pietrzak, Nicholas Pietrzak, Eva Pietrzak and Kylie Hektor; and sister, Lois Lanham of South Bend. Judy graduated with a Cosmetology License from the Byrds Cosmetology School in Dayton, OH, and owned Terrace Beauty Salon in Dayton, OH; she was a ceramics artisan and seamstress. She was a parishioner at the Cathedral of St. Matthew where she was an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at Mass and to the sick and homebound. She loved to travel in the RV with Joe, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and faithful companion, Snoopy. Joe and Judy had been able to take all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren at one time or another to Disneyland and most National Parks. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice House for all their excellent care and understanding. Also, thanks are expressed to Dr. Lum and the staff on the 12th floor at Memorial Hospital for their excellent care. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2012, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, in the Cathedral of St. Matthew. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
