Lee M. Updike, 78, of Mishawaka, passed away at home on December 23, 2022. Lee was born on June 15, 1945, in LaPorte, IN, to the late Ellis and Marion (Ganser) Updike. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Lee went on to become a machinist and work for Dodge, Uniroyal, and Contact prior to their closing. Lee enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and taking long walks. He was and avid woodworker and liked to listen to, Mozart, country songs and the “oldies.” Lee is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry Updike; children, Mary (Alan) Turczynski and Ruth (Mike) Toner; grandchildren, Stephanie King, Jessica Ricketts, AJ Turczyski, Jeanica Maggart, Dylan Maggart, Alea Maggart, Brenna Brunner and Mikey Toner; nine great grandchildren; sister, Diane Paczkowski as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lee was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joyce and Eileen. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4pm on Friday, December 30th, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Celebration of Life service will be held immediately following at 4pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Lee’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
