Franklin D. Proud, 85, of Niles, MI, passed away peacefully at home with his family on Sunday February 19, 2023. He was born on May 16, 1937, in New Carlisle, IN, to the late Oliver D. and Bertha (Cheney) Proud. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Louise Proud and five siblings; Oliver Proud, Olga Neal, Agnes Thompson, Anita (Connie) Newton and Katherine Kinne. He is survived by his wife, Lois Jane (Allen) Proud, his three daughters; Sharee (Brett) Wolff, Michele Green and Shelly Stabnik-Banke, seven grandchildren; Sean (Athena) Green, Conor Long, Jacob (Julie) Wolff, Tyler Green, Karlie Wolff, Jacob Milewski and Jace Milewski, 10 great-grandchildren, Jayden Green, Dacoda Green, Payton Green, Deagan Green, Parker Green, Quortney (Jade) Brom, Dylan (Jada) Banke, Macey Banke, Aiden, Ryker Oliver, Mila Banke, Nehemiah Antisdale and Elijah Antisdel; and by six siblings; Lucille (Mert) Bennett-Pyclik, Daniel Proud, Mildred Keller, Pamela Rhodes, Jerry Proud and Kenneth Proud. Mr. Proud worked as a welder and was a proud United States Marine Corp Veteran. He was a member of the Northway Church of Christ in South Bend. A visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. A funeral service for Franklin will be held at 11 a.m. Thrusday February 23, 2023, in the funeral home, with burial to follow in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, IN.
