David C. Milewski, 52 of South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday May 26, 2012. David was born on May 8, 1960 in South Bend to Clifford and Dolores A. (Maciulski) Milewski, and was a lifelong resident. He was a 1978 graduate of the former LaSalle High School. David was a hard-working man. He worked many years as a journeyman at the former Petersen Graphics and most recently worked as a long haul truck driver and trainer, which he loved. He loved driving long distances and seeing the land across the states. David was kind hearted and loving. He was receptive to feelings of others, he always knew when to ask if something was wrong, or provide small, yet meaningful gestures to pick up the spirits of others. He was friendly and easily likeable to those who met him. He could often been seen making others laugh with his characteristic dry sense of humor-even as illness wore on him in recent months. His daughters remember their dad as boisterous and jovial. David loved to read. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid bass fisherman. He fished most summer weekends, entered tournaments, and loved good fishing trips with the guys. He enjoyed all types of music, especially classic rock, blues, and jazz. AC/DC, Aerosmith, B.B. King, Santana, Jimmy Buffet, and Bob Marley were some of his favorite music artists. He was a warm and loving father. David is survived by his father, Clifford Milewski of Niles, MI; two daughters, Christy (Jayson) Ferman of South Bend, IN and Melissa Milewski of Champaign, IL; one sister, Carol Ford of South Bend, IN; one brother, Bradley (Kimberly) Milewski of South Bend, IN; and five nephews. David was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores Milewski. A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive. Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
