Robert "Bob" Switalski

SOUTH BEND - Robert "Bob" Switalski, 87, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 in the Hospice House of St. Joseph County. Bob was born August 20, 1927 in South Bend to the late Eliguis and Tillie (Rybicki) Switalski. On October 9, 1965, in South Bend, Bob married Geraldine (Rymarz-Arch) Switalski, she preceded him in death on February 26, 2001. Survivors of Bob include his children, John (Cathy) Switalski of White Pigeon, MI., Michael (Lisa) Switalski of Mishawaka, Cheryl (Paul) Bittle of South Bend; and step-son, Al Arch of Fort Worth, TX; brother, Bernard "Barney" Switalski of South Bend; four grandchildren; 6 great- grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren and eight step- great- grandchildren. Bob proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was employed with Oliver & White Farm Corporation. Bob was a parishioner, usher and collector of St. Mary National Church, where he carried the cross for Easter Sunday services for many years. Bob was also a member of the American Legion Post 357. He enjoyed going to McDonalds on Western Avenue to have coffee and breakfast with friends. Bob and the love of his life, Geri, danced every weekend. He always had a great time going to Corey Lake with his grandchildren and he lived life to the fullest. The family of Bob would like to express a special "Thank You" to everyone at Hospice House for their care and support during this difficult time. Visitation for Bob will be 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd with prayers at 5:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 30, 2015 in St. Mary National Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be directed to St. Mary National Catholic Church, 159 N. Summit Drive, South Bend, IN 46619 or Hospice Foundation, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
