VANDALIA - Joseph John Kalina, 63, of Vandalia, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 in Three Rivers Health. Joseph was born November 11, 1950 in Dowagiac, Michigan to William and Helen (Zablocki) Kalina. He married Euna Patricia Ann Cotrel October 11, 1975 in Dowagiac, Michigan. She survives. He was preceded in death by his parents. Joseph served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was known for picking on people and playing jokes. He was passionate about Lionel trains and radio controlled planes. He enjoyed his computer. Joseph will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Euna (Cotrel) Kalina of Vandalia; three sisters, Phyllis Mosher of Cassopolis, Patricia (Ed) McCourt of Bradenton, Florida, and Teresa (James "Butch") Hershberger of Vandalia; one brother, Frank (Vickie) Kalina of Cassopolis, and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather Saturday, December 28, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. in Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis, with the Reverend Father Stanley Witek officiating. Mr. Kalina will be accorded full military honors provided by active members of the U.S. Army and the combined honor guards of the William E. Lozier V.F.W. Post 10704 and Efton James American Legion Post 206, Cassopolis. The family prefers contributions in Joseph's name be made to Wagner Family Funerals to help defray expenses.
