Elizabeth J. "Betty" Sosnoski
Feb. 1, 1928 - April 13, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth "Betty" J. Sosnoski, 84, passed away at home on Friday, April 13th, peacefully in her sleep. Betty was born on February 1, 1928, in Mishawaka, to Rene and Anna (Nowicki) Lanchsweerdt. On October 5, 1946, in St. Matthew's in South Bend, as the former Elizabeth Lanchsweerdt, she married Frederick J. Sosnoski Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frederick, on August 30, 1990; and by a son, Frederick J. Sosnoski Jr., on May 3, 1995. Surviving are her daughter, Dianne (Jeff) Williams of Zig-Zag, OR; sons, Daniel and Timothy Sosnoski, both of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Christopher (Lisa) Williams, Kelle (DeVaul) Henderson, Jeffery Williams, Daniel (Lisa) Jr., Amanda (Jason) Forbes, Nicholas (Sara) Sosnoski, Crystal and Stephanie Sosnoski; and eight great-grandchildren, Rachel, Dagan, Olivia, Isabell, Liam Sosnoski, Kayle Forbes, Sawyer, Finley Henderson. Betty retired from JC Penney's in 1990 as a customer service supervisor after 29 years of employment. She was a member of St. Anthony De Padua Church, the BK Club Ladies Auxiliary, Moose Lodge in Elkhart, JC Penney Retirement Club, and Chippewa Senior Bowling. She was also a Eucharistic Minister, and an avid Notre Dame fan. Visitation for Betty will be on Wednesday, April 18th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where the Holy Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, April 19th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Anthony De Padua Church, South Bend, with Rev. Dave Ruppert officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Contributions may be made in Betty's name to St. Anthony De Padua Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend, IN 46617.
