EDWARDSBURG - Ann Catherine Straka, 85, lifelong resident of Edwardsburg, MI, passed away at 4:24 pm Monday, March 26, 2012, in Kelli's Cozy Care, Galien, MI. She was born in South Bend on March 31, 1926, to the late Louis and Anne (Horvath) Fokey. On July 31, 1948, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, Ann married Frank John Straka, who preceded her in death on March 27, 1992. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Louis Fokey Jr. Ann graduated from Central High School. She retired from Edwardsburg Public Schools as a custodian after ten years. Ann enjoyed garage sales, her flower garden, playing bingo, and visiting Hawaii. She was a longtime member of Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg, MI. Ann is survived by one daughter, Linda Ann (Gerald D.) Alford of Edwardsburg, MI; one son, Robert F. (Lynn Ellen) Straka of Granger; three grandchildren, Kimberly Ann (James) Cooper, Lisa Marie Hardesty and Michael Robert Straka; as well as three great-grandchildren, Noah and Taylor Hardesty and Khloie Straka. Pallbearers will be Michael Straka, Gary Alford, James Cooper and James Bever. Graveside services will be 11:15 am Friday, March 30, 2012, at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, 375 W. Cleveland Road, Granger, with Pastor Jeff Reese officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday, March 29, 2012, and 10:00 - 11:00 am Friday, March 30, 2012, in Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Contributions in memory of Ann may be made to RiverBend Cancer Services, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd., Suite 401, South Bend, IN 46617.
