[N12519] Cleo Ann Kowalski
Apr. 21, 1937 - Mar. 4, 2015
SOUTH BEND - Cleo Ann Kowalski, 77, of Niles, MI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at 4:24 am surrounded by her family following a heroic health battle. She kept herself young and fun by hosting pool parties for her family, lounging on the beaches of Lake Michigan, being a #1 cheerleader at her grandchildren's sporting events, and channeling her inner card shark at euchre club. She was widely known for her laugh, her generosity, her humor and her spirit, but mostly for her heart of pure gold, an example her family will strive daily to live by. She is survived by her four children, Jenny (Bruce) Micinski of Branch, MI, Beth Camp of Elkhart, Phil "PJ" Kowalski of South Bend, and Jamey Kowalski and his life partner, Jim Long, of St. Petersburg, FL; and her grandchildren, Jessica, Caitlin, Nathan, Codee, Connor, and Taylor. She is also survived by her four sisters, Nancy (Don) Coleman, Julie (Art) Zielinski, Kathy (Bob) Nixon and Sharon (Joe) Konopka. She was preceded in death by her parents, Franklin and Katherine (Kramer) Kramer. All were proud to call her a mom, a sister, and grams. Visitation will be from 11 to 1:30 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A memorial service will follow at 1:30 pm in the funeral home. Per Cleo's very specific request, a celebration of her life will be held at American Legion Pulaski Post #357, 5414 W Sample St., South Bend, immediately following the memorial service; all are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Christ Child Society. Her giving heart and helping hands remained active in this society for decades. She Lived; She Laughed; She Loved; She Left.
