Thomas J. Grabarek

SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Grabarek, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. in Southfield Village. Thomas was born on January 18,1941, in South Bend to the late John and Agnes (Molnar) Grabarek. On June 11, 1960, he married Judith (Fogarty), she survives along with their four children, Maria (John) Henry and Kathleen (Franco) Garcia, all of South Bend, Christopher (Christina) Grabarek of Valparaiso, IN, and John Grabarek of Baltimore, MD; fourteen grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Katherine, Ann and Grace Henry, Cory and Ainsley Grabarek, and Melanie, Madeline, Thomas, Joseph, Mary, Theresa, and John Paul Garcia; sister, Linda (Ron) Otolski of Mishawaka; three brothers, Frank (Melody) Grabarek of Granger, Donald (Mary Ann) Grabarek of South Bend, and William (Jackie) Grabarek of North Liberty; and by his former sister-in-law, Janet Grabarek of Granger. Tom worked for Delta Stare Electric for over thirty years where he started as an electrician and worked his way up to vice president. He later worked for Thompson Electric as an estimator. He was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church and was a member of Knights of Columbus 553, 3rd degree, Serra Club and IBEW Local 153. He enjoyed woodworking. Tom loved his grandchildren and enjoyed reading them stories. The family would like to thank Dr. Rafat Asari, and Toni Klatt-Ellis for their care. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2009, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Road, South Bend where a Rosary will be prayed at 3 p.m. Family and friends may meet in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic church, New Carlisle at 10 a.m for the Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, September 28, 2009. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers the family has requested Masses. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, The center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 11 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637, or the Share Foundation, P.O.
