Don Notary passed away on April 2, 2023, in Hudson, OH. He was born in McIntyre, PA one of 5 children to the late Dominic Notareschi and Grace (Bottiglione) Notareschi. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. In 1950 he moved to South Bend IN. He was employed as an Engineer and worked in Plant Management at Bendix Corp. for 39 Years. In 1953 he married Joyce Melser. In addition to his wife survives his sons David Notary of Carmel, IN, and Robert Notary and wife Yelena Smagley of Albuquerque, NM. Daughter Janice (Notary) Porter and husband Tom Porter of Hudson, OH. Brother Albert Notary of Merritt Island, FL. Grandchildren Grace Notary of Chicago, IL, Charles (Erin) Notary of Battle Ground, IN, Philip (Joanna) Porter of Marysville, OH, Joseph (Kelleen) Porter, of Delaware, OH, Edward Potapov, of Albuquerque, NM, and Anna Notary of Albuquerque, NM. Great Grandchildren Liam and Henry Notary, and Emma, James, Katie, Riley and Raelynn Porter. He was predeceased by grandson Scott Notary, sisters Mary McConville and Dora Jones, and brother Joseph Notary. Don thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and was known as the 'Ace Takes it All Master' to them. He enjoyed his annual vacations with his family which included many family trips throughout the United States and Europe. Don and Joyce relished their retirement to Arizona and made many lasting friendships while in Arizona. Don enjoyed his extended family throughout his life and highlighted his love for them all by organizing and serving as Emcee at 2 'NOTOBOPEDE' reunions which represented his relatives from his cherished families representing his Italian heritage. Don was a World War II veteran and WWII history buff. During his service he was present during the liberation of the concentration camp in Dachau Germany and helped in the capture of SS Col. Martin Gottfried Weiss who was Commandant of the Notorious Dachau camp. His memory of cruising back into the New York harbor aboard the Queen Mary to a cheering crowd after the war was very special to him. Don was active within the South Bend community PTA, German Township activities, and Member of St Paul Lutheran Church. He enjoyed being outside and taking care of his vineyard and gardens. Family and friends enjoyed the harvest and his wine.
