SOUTH BEND - Reba L. (Kuzuski) Layne, 88, of South Bend, passed away at 2:05 AM on Monday, February 18th, at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Reba was born on November 19, 1924, in Dallas, TX. On September 13, 1943, she married Ralph M. Layne Sr. in Pikeville, KY. Then in 1945 they moved to the Michiana area from Columbus, Ohio. Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Heni L. Ries of Wood Dale, IL; one son, Monty (Sudie) Layne Jr.; six grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Foldesi, Ron (Tammy) Ries, Monty (Michelle) Layne III, Roger Ries, Buffy Murphy and Hope Murphy; five great-grandchildren, Allison, Francine, Chris, Dominic and Brandon; and one great-great-granddaughter, Adalynn, all of whom she loved and cherished. Reba was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Layne. Reba and her husband owned and operated Aetna Glass Company for 54 years in South Bend. Reba loved gardening, flowers, watching red cardinals, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the great-great-grandbaby. You are not forgotten, loved one. Nor will you ever be. As long as life and memory last, We will remember thee. We miss you now, our hearts are sore. As time goes by we'll miss you more. Your loving smile, your gentle face, No one can fill your vacant place. Friends and family may visit on Thursday, February 21st, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home, South Bend. The funeral services will be held Friday, February 22nd, at 11:00 AM, at the funeral home, with Father Chuck Herman officiating, and burial to follow at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, IN. The family would like all memorial contributions to be made to the American Heart Association of Northern Indiana, 6100 W. Washington St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278; or to the American Cancer Association, PO Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Reba will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends, and all who had the opportunity to know her during her life journey. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Rd. / State Rd 23, South Bend, IN, handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Layne family.
