Zsofia Vida

MISHAWAKA - Zsofia Vida, 85 years old, passed away at 6:02 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Vida was born on June 6, 1929 in Nagy Budafa, Hungary to the late Peter and Terez (Gores) Allo. On October 28, 1946 in Hungary, she was united in marriage to Frank Laszlo Vida who preceded in death on June 1, 1986. Three grandchildren have also preceded in death. Mrs. Vida was the eldest of seven brothers and sisters. Two sisters, Margita Herczog and Roszalia Kovacsova; and three brothers, Gyri, Bella and Arpad Allo have all passed away. Mrs. Vida is survived by her five children, Irene (Dave) Emmons of Arizona, Terez (Eric) Hein of South Bend, Roszalia (Don) Chwalek of South Bend, Alex (Debra) Vida of Mishawaka, and Zolie (Gail) Vida of South Bend; nine grandchildren; many great- and great-great- grandchildren; and her sister, Erzsebeth Cseh of Holice, Slovakia. There are many nieces, nephews, and extended family who reside in Slovakia and Hungary. Mrs. Vida was a member of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. She was a loving sister, mother and grandmother. She worked at Ball Band for 16 ½ years prior to retiring. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in South Bend. Father Kevin Bauman will officiate. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend, is assisting with funeral arrangements. The Vida family would like to thank Michelle Baker of Mishawaka for her care and compassion, as well as the Center for Hospice.
