Helen T. Hesler a resident of Naperville for 19 years Helen T. Hesler (nee Golba), 97, a former longtime resident of South Bend, Ind., passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, Ill. She was born Oct. 16, 1913, in Mishawaka, Ind., to Alexander and Emiliya Golba. She was the beloved mother of Geraldine "Jeri" (Charles) Schlabach of Naperville and the late Dr. Eugene (Mary Ann) Karnafel of South Bend; loving grandmother of Cynthia Russotto-Rinehart of Naperville, Cheryl (Eric) Rausch of Austin, Texas, Kevin (Leora) Schlabach of Phoenix, Ariz., Therese (Wayne) Green of Houston, Texas, Paula (Johan) Diderik of The Netherlands, Mitchell (Laura) Karnafel of Logansport, Ind., Stephanie (Ari) Van Dyk of Arizona, Keith (Marsha) Karnafel of Indianapolis, Ind. and Rachel Karnafel of South Bend; devoted great-grandmother of 20; great-great-grandmother of one; and fond sister of Edmund Golba of Warren, Mich. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Sophie Keller, Margaret Horvath and Jane Krusinski; and one brother, Richard Golba. Helen was a former 30-year employee of Studebakers, serving in various capacities as a valued employee. She was deeply devoted to her family, spoiling them all with her love, great cooking, and entertaining them with her keen wit and warm smile. Helen liked dancing, especially the polka, was an avid fisherwoman, and enjoyed traveling. She was a talented designer and seamstress, and loved to crochet, knit,and embroider. She was a past active member of the South Bend and Naperville Moose, and member of St. Margaret Mary Parish. Visitation will be at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 5015 Lincoln Ave.(on Route 53,½ mile south of Ogden/Route 34), Lisle, Ill. on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 3 to 9 p.m. A funeral procession will be on Friday, Sept. 30, at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, to St. Margaret Mary Church, Naperville, for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Afternoon interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, Naperville, IL 60563, in loving memory of Helen Hesler. For information, 630-964-9392.
