SOUTH BEND - Dawn Eileen Buczynski, 89, residing in South Bend, passed away peacefully at 11:25 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2013, in Sterling House. She was born in Wiltshire, England, on June 7, 1924, to the late Horace and Elsie Ayres. She had lived in the South Bend area since 1951, coming from England. In 1946, Dawn married Gerard Colombo in Swindon, England. On October 13, 1951, in South Bend, she married Eugene E. Buczynski, who preceded her in death in 1954. She was also preceded by her sisters, Carol King and Josephine Leary. Dawn is survived by two sons, Garth (Annette) Colombo of Granger and Gene K. (Christine) Buczynski, also of Granger; two grandchildren, Amy (Paul) King and Jeff (Rickee) Buczynski; five great-grandchildren; a special niece, Catherine (John) Gallagher of Granger; and great-nieces, Nadine Gallagher and Hayley (Steve) Katz. Dawn had a career in fashion sales at Gilbert's Men's Clothing Store on South Michigan Street. She served her loyal customers for decades. Many members of her Gilbert's family were among her lifelong friends. Friends are invited to visit with the family and share memories from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013, in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dawn may be donated to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545 (www.foundationforhospice.org); or to the St. Joseph County Chapter Scholarship Program, Indiana University Alumni Association, 1000 East 17th Street, Bloomington, IN 47408.
