SOUTH BEND - Helen Bloom, 89 passed away at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 in Your Home Assisted Living. Helen was born on December 13, 1918, in South Bend, to George and Barbara Bagarus. She was employed by Whitehouse Manufacturing. On June 11, 1938 in South Bend she married Rene "Ray" R. Bloom Sr. He died on May 8, 1990. Helen was also preceded in death by three sisters Mary Heyde, Gizella Squadroni and Sister Constance Bagarus F.D.C. Surviving are a daughter, Barbara (Edward) Harris of South Bend; a son, Rene Bloom Jr. of South Bend; six grandchildren, Brett Harris, Brandy Yocum, Lisa Bloom, Debra Bloom, Leslie Bloom and Amanda Marriott; six great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Ashley, Winter, Jason "J.J." Eve, and Allisa; a sister, Elizabeth Danowski of Granger; and a brother, George (Dorothy) Bagarus of South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park. Family and friends may call one half hour prior to services in the church. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue is handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
