Rita Elaine (Long) Szikszai, 74, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 16, 2022, surrounded by her family who loved her. Rita was born on November 2, 1947 in South Bend. She was the daughter of the late Homer Franklin and Marion (Zollinger) Long. She is survived by her daughter, Angela (Szikszai) Garris; her son-in-law, Dustin Garris; three grandchildren Hannah Rae Elaine, Levi James and Malachi Lee; her sister Ava Anita (Long) Barlow, as well as her brother-in-law William Barlow and her beloved cats Speedy, Steel, Minnie, Baby White and Fluffy. Rita was a lover of makeup, skincare and all things beauty. She was also a lover of history. She participated in the Stone's Trace Pioneer Festival in Ligonier each year where she sold hand-sewn historical outfits. Rita also loved the British Royal Family and had extensive knowledge about Queen Elizabeth and her lineage. Rita loved to spend time with her daughter and her grandchildren who live in Alabama. Above all else, Rita had a deep faith and love for the Lord. She attended Family Christian Center in Munster and previously attended Lester Sumrall's Christian Center Church in South Bend. Rita was a wonderful, loving and caring friend. Her closest friends were not just friends, they were family. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1965 and went on to work at CTS in Elkhart for more than 50 years. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 23 at Hotel Elkhart Suite # 800 located at 500 South Main Street, Elkhart, Indiana 46516.
