SOUTH BEND - Anthony "Tony" Paul Sisti, 86, formerly of South Bend, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2012, at his residence in Cary, North Carolina, with his loving and caring family at his bedside. Tony was born on September 10, 1926, to the late Thomas and Lucille Sisti in South Bend. Tony resided in South Bend most of his life until he moved to North Carolina in 2008. On October 3, 1952, Tony married Helen Thomas in South Bend. Tony and Helen were married for 39 years. Helen passed away on November 13, 1991. Tony is survived by his five daughters, Dawn (Steve) Neal of Indianapolis, IN, Helena (Kevin) Castleberry, Mary Lou Sisti Lawson, both of Cary NC, Mary Lou (Pasquale) Rulli of Mishawaka, IN, and Shari Pullen of South Bend, IN. Tony was a grandfather to 26 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren. Five daughters, Betty Yates, Dorothy Burritt, Patricia Shelor, Peggy Akers and Donna Larrison, preceded Tony in death, along with a brother, Paul Sisti, and sisters, Cecelia Sisti and Mary Karczewski. Tony served his country in the United States Navy during WW II and received an honorable discharge as a Gunner's Mate while serving aboard the USS Intrepid for six years. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 360 and the Moose Lodge in Mishawaka. Tony was a former employee of the Studebaker Corporation. Tony retired as a professional commercial painter. Tony was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family, whom he loved and cherished; he enjoyed spending precious time with all of them. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. The funeral service celebrating Tony's life will be held at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 23rd, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka, IN.
