MISHAWAKA - John C. Guzowski, 84, passed away on Saturday, September 10th, at 6:30 am in Hospice House, South Bend, after an illness. John was born on January 12, 1927, in Poland, as the son of Francis and Anna (Derda) Guzowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Maria Piontek, and one son, Edward Guzowski on February 1, 1997. On November 26, 1953, in Vlissingen, Netherlands, he married Johanna De Waard. John is survived by his wife of 57 years, and one grandson, Dylan Guzowski, and his fiancĀ©be, Donnacha O'Brien of South Bend, and a daughter-in-law, Helena Elizabeth "Leny" Guzowski (Kyle Sarber) of Mishawaka. John was employed by Alumitec Tool & Die in South Bend as a welder for 26 years, and then went to work for Welded Products in Mishawaka for 10 years before his retirement. John was a very kind and quiet man. He could fix anything and enjoyed doing so. Family and friends meant the world to John. Visitation for family and friends will be on Tuesday, September 13th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., with Wake Prayers at 6:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 14th, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Bavo Catholic Church, 511 W. 7th Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
