John E. Wojcik, 78, of Riding Trail, South Bend, died at 4:19 p.m. Saturday in Hamilton Grove Retirement Community, New Carlisle, IN. He was born June 24, 1922 in South Bend and was the son of George and Mary (Szalewski) Wojcik. Mr. Wojcik retired in 1984 from the Bendix Corporation. On July 16, 1948 he married the former Phyllis Snyder who preceded him in death. On September 2, 1983 he married Lorraine (Petrowski) Niespodziany who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Gwendolyn Metzler of South Bend, and Janet (James) Wight of Fayetteville, GA, one step daughter, Kim (Jon) Colglazier of South Bend, three step sons, Thomas (Rhonda) Niespodziany, John Niespodziany, and Jim (Michelle) Niespodziany all of South Bend, three grandsons, Donald Metzler of San Francisco, CA, Robert Metzler of Patterson, CA and James Wight of Fayetteville, GA, six step grandchildren, Christi, Thomas Jr., Edmund and Jordan Niespodziany all of South Bend, and Nathan and Hanna Colglazier both of South Bend and two great grandchildren, Robert and Eric Metzler both of Patterson, CA. Mr. Wojcik was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. Family and friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday in the ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where the Married Men's Club will have a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Casimir Catholic Church with burial to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Mr. Wojcik was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific. He was a member of the Married Men's Club of St. Casimir Catholic Church, Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #9820 and Bowler Country Club.
