NEW BUFFALO - Terrence "Terry" E. Pokuta, 76, of New Buffalo, MI, passed away Friday, November 6, 2015, at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. (EST) Tuesday, November 10, 2015, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church, 718 W. Buffalo St., New Buffalo, with Father Dan Hyman officiating. Burial to follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City, IN. Friends may visit Monday, November 9, 2015, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. (EST) with a word of prayer offered at 7:45 P.M at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo. Friends may also visit Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. (EST) at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Arc of Indiana for the benefit of Lauren Pokuta. Those wishing to sign Terry's guestbook may do so online at www.sommerfeldchapel.com. Terry was born April 15, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to Robert & Joan (Gawron). He was a graduate of Weber Catholic High School in Chicago in 1956 and went on to attend John Carroll University. He married Arlene Wronkiewicz on February 16, 1958. Terry worked at the Office of Personnel Management for the Federal Investigations Division. He retired on June 15, 1994, after 35 years of public service. He was a member of the New Buffalo Yacht Club and formerly on the Board of Directors. Terry enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and his trips to Sanibel Island. He was known to many as the Mayor of Creek Drive in Sunset Shores in New Buffalo. He loved spending time with his wife and beloved dog Dilly, and taking walks on the beach with her. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Arlene; children, Joni (Joe D.) Dyniewski of New Buffalo, Stevie (Trish) Pokuta of Barrington, IL, Michael (Tonja) Pokuta of La Porte, IN, Joey (Michele) Pokuta of New Buffalo and Chrisi (Joe) Smith of LaPorte, IN; grandchildren, Jason Kintzele, Stephen Kintzele, Nicole (Matt) Hummel, Stephanie Pokuta, Brynne Pokuta, Lauren Pokuta, Justin (Liz) Rose, Joey Pokuta, Jennifer Pokuta, Matthew Smith, Michael Smith and Leanne Smith; great-grandchildren, Reed Kintzele, Maya Kintzele, Charlotte Hummel, Landon Rose and Lily Rose; sister-in-law, Marilyn Neyfeldt of Chicago; niece, Melissa Razzino of Chicago; and adopted son, Mark Ferrante of Chicago, IL.
