Stephen Ronald Megyese, Sr., 71, residing in South Bend, passed away at 4:50 am Sunday, June 10, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. He was born in South Bend on July 1, 1940 to the late Stephen Emery and Marian Willeta (Diedrich) Megyese. Stephen graduated from Riley High School and served his country honorably in the United States Army as an airplane mechanic stationed in Leavenworth, KS. Throughout his life, he had several occupations, however, his most enjoyable career was extermination/pest control. Stephen was a member of Faith United Methodist Church and a former member of the South Bend Moose and Mishawaka Eagles. Stephen enjoyed hunting and fishing. Stephen is survived by his son, Stephen (Michelle) Megyese, Jr. of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Matthew and Amanda Megyese, both of Mishawaka; sister, Janice Woodcox of South Bend; and brothers, Jim (Pat) Megyese and Tom (Darlene) Megyese, both of South Bend and Bob (Jeanette) Megyese of Collinsville, IL. Funeral services for Stephen will be 10:00 am Thursday, June 14, 2012 in Faith United Methodist Church, 802 E. Ewing, South Bend, with Rev. Keith McFarren officiating. Military graveside services and burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Memorial contributions in Stephen's name may be given to the Broadway Christian Church Food Bank, 1412 S. Carroll Street, South Bend, IN 46613 or to the Faith United Methodist Church.
