ALFRED ERNEST ASMUS

NILES – Alfred Ernest Asmus, 74, died at 5 a.m. today in the Paul Stephan Nursing Home, after an illness of 13 years. A retired employee of the Kawneer Co., Mr. Asmus was born Jan. 30, 1900 in Niles, and had lived here all his life. On Jan. 29, 1922, in Niles, he married the former Freida W. Exner, who died in 1971. He was a member of the Kawneer 25 year club. Surviving are two sons, Paul O. and Richard L. Asmus, both of Niles; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Frucci, Mrs. Charlene Fein and Mrs. Patricia Cloutier,m all of Niles; two brothers, DeVerne and Clarence Asmus, both of Niles and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Pifer Chapel of the Swem-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Calvin Schmid of the St. John's United Church of Christ. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 tonight at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. John's United Church of Christ.
